About the School
Acorn International Summer School is a unique place for children aged between 7 and 12 years. Here they can learn academic English in an exciting location set in the heart of rural Yorkshire, yet within easy travelling distance of many internationally renowned places of interest.
Our courses are specially written for 7 – 12 year old and offer a fully inclusive programme that targets their interests and educational needs. This programme includes:
- Collection of your child from Manchester airport
- 15 hours of academic English per week
- 10 hours of primary subjects per week
- Educational excursions during the week
- Social excursions during the weekends
- Accommodation and laundry
- 24 hour supervision and care of your child by experienced and qualified staff
- Three meals per day
- English Examination fee
- Certificate of attendance signed by the Course Principal
- Individual academic and pastoral reports, written by your child’s teachers
- Course photograph
- Summer school rucksack
- Recommendation of excellent boarding schools suitable for your child, should you wish him/her to continue education in the UK.
Our experience and commitment to working with children in small groups means that you can rest assured that your child will receive the highest quality teaching and care while they stay in England. In addition, the academic nature of the course means that your child has the option of completing their summer school stay with an internationally recognised British qualification.
Course Dates and Fees
The Summer School operates two 3 week courses on the following dates:
Course 1 – July 12th – August 1st 2009
Course 2 – August 2nd – August 22nd 2009
Price per child for 1 course (3 weeks) - £1800
Price per child for 2 courses (6 weeks) - £3300*
*£300 discount for booking six weeks.
The School and Facilities
Acorn International Summer School is based in a beautiful Grade II listed boarding school in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside. Terrington Hall School is situated in the picturesque village of Terrington which is in the Howardian Hills of North Yorkshire, in an area designated of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The school is eight miles from the market town of Malton, and the city of York is approximately 14 miles away.
The facilities at Acorn International Summer School are excellent and include:
- Large and airy classrooms
- A spacious sports hall
- A well-equipped music department
- An indoor swimming pool
- Two superb science laboratories
- A modern computing suite
- Twelve acres of land, most of which is games pitches.
The boarding facilities are located in the oldest and grandest part of the school and comprise of beautiful light and spacious dormitories that accommodate between 4 and 8 children. Period features such as large sash windows and original woodwork can be found in these rooms.
