Llandrillo College is a large, government funded general college of Further and Higher Education offering a range of courses from introductory level through to Masters Degrees. The College recently received the highest UK Government College inspection results for the whole of Wales and one of the highest in the UK.
The College has been actively recruiting students internationally for over four year and currently has around 60 full-time International students The main countries of origin include Vietnam, China, India, Nepal, and Japan.
Students study a range of programmes including English, A levels, International Baccalaureate, International Foundation Programme, Vocational courses, HND's, Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees, Pre- Masters and Masters programmes. Higher level courses are validated through the University of Wales
Courses are offered in a range of curriculum areas including Sport, Art and Design, Media Studies, Music, Science and Maths, Engineering, Construction., Motor Vehicle, Business Management, Computing, Health and Caring, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Hospitality and Catering, and Travel and Tourism. The College is a centre of excellence for the Tourism, Hospitality and Catering, and Motor Vehicle curriculum areas.
College facilities are outstanding including over 1900 computers, Sport Centre, Learning Resource Centre, hair and Beauty salons, state of the art training kitchens and travel office. The international office has two dedicated support staff to guide and supports students with all welfare and academic matters.
Location
The College is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and yet is only 80 miles from the city of Manchester with its International airport. The main industry in the area is tourism and the area attracts many International visitors. The main town, Llandudno is currently enjoying considerable investment in its infrastructure including the development of a major international conference centre. Many of our students work part-time in hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions and work experience opportunities are plentiful.
We provide accommodation for students with local families and arrange a number of visits and activities for International Students our students through .
Achievements and Accolades- Hospitality and Catering
- January 1999 - Estyn Quality Inspection grade one results awarded for Hospitality and catering (the first in Wales)
- March 2005 - Estyn Quality Inspection Grade one results awarded for Hospitality and Catering
- May 2000 - Winners of the Best Hotel School in European competition in Maastricht, Europe.
- September 2001 Accolade of being Network of Excellence in catering for Wales
- January 2003 - Candidate from Llandrillo competed in the Food Service World Skills Olympics in Switzerland.
- September 2004 - ARAMARK award UK College of the Year 2004 awarded by the Academy of Food and Wine Service
- January 2005 - Restaurant Magazine selected Llandrillo as regional winner of College Restaurant of the Year 2005
International co-operation
Llandrillo College is developing a number of international co-operation partnerships in the areas of A levels, Culinary Arts, Travel and Tourism, and Hospitality management .
Fees and Scholarships
Our fee structure is highly competitive and provides excellent value for money. The area has comparatively low living costs and there are excellent opportunities for part time work. We offer scholarships and bursaries to students who show promise.
